Castles in Medieval Europe
You guys ever wonder how long they take to build a castle back then? Must take years with all the slow building as I would imagine. Plus, when gunpowder came around they didn't put up much of a fight I assume.

Yeah, with all the wooden cranes and stuff I would think that they take forever

Medieval engineers were used during castle construction to design the stronghold to better prevent attacks from any blind angles or potential flanking positions. Attacking armies liked cover, so the surrounding land near the castle would often be cleared, and vulnerable approaches would be heavily fortified too.
